A NEW PAGE IN THE HISTORY OF THE 821ST MILITARY POLICE COMPANY
What a great time we had in St. Louis. The outstanding efforts of Ralph, Rose Barrele and their children made this, one to remember. They dreamed of a reunion and with Ralphs family diligent efforts, finding former members, twenty-one men were able to be with us. When I told my daughter that I was going to a reunion of my military outfit she was excited and wanted to be with us. The schedule for the reunion was at the Raddison Hotel May16th through May 18th. Many arrived on Saturday and started our war stories. We had two fine dinners on Sunday and Monday evenings. After the meals we spent about two hours telling all the things that came to mind. We remember the ones that had passed on. I am 74 and pushing hard for the 75th. I certainly appreciate what the Barrelles have done for us. A second reunion will be in North Carolina, close to Greensboro. Make your plans to be there."NOW"
I have copies of letters of recognition given to our outfit, those and other letters I pulled from the bulletin boards as we moved from one location to another. Hope the letters will bring back some memories.
Ralph Barrale told the group about pictures in a book about the Remagan Bridge. The name of the book is "THE BRIDGE AT REMAGAN" by Ken Hechler. Look at page #141and see Vernon Bradberry and Murell Deal on guard, also on page #168 see Vernon Bradberry and Robert Minns doing their bit to direct traffic. I purchased the book from Amazon.com. You could go to the local library and maybe they have a copy. It is an interesting book.
